  JW's and Internet. Wikipedia?

  jh posted a thread about how wikipedia clearly shows how goofy the doctrine of jw's has been in changing over the years.

  so it makes me wonder could wikipedia be the driving force in the no "independent" study?

  i know that my whole family uses wikipedia often and use it as a respected source when researching things.

  As far as I know, most of Wiki is fair to middling on info. I never use it in my research projects for my college courses for the simple reason that my profs siscount the references. If I want a good reference to cite my online references usually have a url ending in .edu or .gov

  I've known JW's that have their own business that WILL NEVER HIRE A JW! What does that tell you?

  Maybe you know me! I never hired ANY jw even when I was doing "good in the truth." I never dealt with a biggger bunch of whiners anywhere. I saw how most of tehm behave on the job. I think it is because they think a dirty member of this dying system is not worthy of any respect.

  At the schools I went to I would have been beaten to within an inch of my life for talking like that. I was ridiculed enough for not saluting Old Glory. I didn't think getting my ass kicked in would do me much good.

  i recently bumped into a jw i know that told me that her watch had been pinched at an assembly , she then went on to tell me that a lot of worldly people go to assemblys ,so she should have been more carfull !!!!!!!

  this is someone that knows im "worldly" i was gobsmacked when i had recovered from my shock i informed her that i would not dream of stealing something despite being "worldly".

  i dont even think she realised how offensive it sounded and she is not usually a judgemental person , so it must be all that self righteous association she has been mixing with lol

  Will following the Watchtower Society ever cause you harm? Yes. If you go to meetings, you lose value in the amount of the expenditure put in to get to that meeting and stay there, including time spent preparing, in excess of the benefit you get by being there.

  My Economics professor would say what you described here would be in fact the "Opportunity Cost" of goin to meetings. It is in effect the trade off and potential losses you suffer in order to attend a meeting. Hence, if you go to a meeting you miss watching Smallville, Supernatural, and at least part of TMZ. And as you mentioned your prep time is taking away from other things of value. By studying lets say two hours on Friday night you could miss out on watching The Ghost Whisperer AND MOONLIGHT!

  There was once an ass from Beth-HELL named Quessenberry. I met him in the West Sacramento, CA cong. Never met anyone quite like this maniac. He was always rude to the little kids. Oh how the elders used to kiss his ass because he had served at beth-HELL. He was not even of the annointededed c-c-classssh. Once my mom got tired of him being mean to the kids in the hall and asked him into the little back room for a scolding! HA HA HA HA HA She got mad at his evasiveness and called him a fat sheep. (Book of Ezekiel) reference to fat sheeps hogging all the good stuff and starving little lambs. He had never heard that term before.

  Anyway after my mom got hold of him my mil went after him next, then my fil drove all the way from a neighboring town to scold him for abusing his ms son. I even cussed at him in the kh, much to my disgrace. Cursing in public is offensive to everyone around and I felt bad that in a supposed place of worship I was made so mad as to do it. For many years I was an atendant and was also allowed to handle the sound. Well, because I married a strong minded and unsubmissive woman, and I was not about to force her to do anything because the elders demanded me to do, I lost my priveleges. So, Quessenberry has no idea how to run a sound board and had so much feedback and squealing going on it sounded like a pig slaughter. The public speaker actually turned off his mike and sat down. But this boob had no clue and more noise erupted from the speakers. So sitting nearby and having knowlege of the board I simply reach over and turned three knobs and leveled the sound. Guess what Quessenberry did.....He grabbed me. He actually grabbed my wrist and squeezed it to almost break my arm bones. He told me that I had no business touching that anymore since I was defying Jah with my makeup wearing wife. I lost it. I gave him a shot to the left gut and backed him out the door and on our way out I told him that if he ever touched me with his diry mf hands again I would kick in his ass.

  He left the cong the next week. Turns out his wife received another beating and it was time to flee to another place. I am actually hoping to reunite with my beloved Quessenberry. I have some words for his bitchass......LOL

  Anyone else know this creep or where he might be found?

  we had a hard core bunch of elder drunks all 5 of them could drink like there was know tomorrow my father who was never a jw and liked a drink had nothing on these guys at jw weddings ect they would ask my dad to be barman because he was a big guy know one would argue with he would refuse to serve some elders because they had to much

  My wife's uncle.

  This guy is rediculous. Now to all the good alkys and drunks out there please don't feel like I am knocking you. It is this hypcritical turd that I am going after. He is a bully drunk or sober. He was pretty much raised in the truth and he is in his mid fifties now. When he got married he beat his poor wife silly on a daily basis. This poor sould would simply say his name and say please don't be so mean.....Then he had the nerve to be mad at his wife because her mom thought he was an ass. When her mom died about ten years ago he said he was glad she died.

  Over all the years his wife has remaained a solid jw. She is one of the biggest gossips I know. But she is a sweet person, meek and mild. She raised her kids thru uncle fuckstick's drunken stupor. They are all well within the bounds of the compound and serve as ms and pioneers. About a year ago he got all holy-moly. Now he wants to be an elder. He tells everyone that he put his kids thru college and they are all IN THE TRUTH and we should all respect his drunk ass. One of his nephews said under his breath that he was a drunk and an asshole. The uncle asked him what he said and he said nothing. SoUncle fuckstick's middle daughter said he called you an asshole daddy. Uncle punch him in the chest so hard he flew threw the kitchen and broke out the garage door. Broke a couple of the kids ribs too.

  When he asked the elders to make him an elder they cited his over thirty years of inactivity, his drunkenness and his bullying attitude as reasons not to. So he got mad and left the hall from the north cong to the south cong. Then he was throwing expensive dinners for teh elders of the new cong. They all came and ate! The the co came and he ate shrimp cocktails like the others. Then tehy told him he needed to pioneer. So he does. Thing is he comes back and gets drunk. He was going to work and some guy made him mad so he punched him out. He got them both fired. He comes back from service and says that it is wonderful to be out in the field doing Jah's work. The husbands out picking oranges and cutting grapes and him servicing the wives in their homes.

  I am so tired of this ass. I have told my fil and my wife that I intend to kick his ass in and they say to pleeeeze not. So out of love and respect for them I have not. But I can't say he won't cross a line and I will do that forever. I don't mind a drunk, but a wife abuser is something I can't stomach.

  i just dont think i can take it anymore....my wife of 11 years is such a great gal... but we are just not connecting anymore......otwo says hang in there...as she may come around and wake up!!

  !....but the extreme differences in our lifes are starting to take a toll...and may be making me want to drink too much.....i should not need to self medicate like this!!

  !.....soooooo wish i had never woken up or could just deal with the real truth....what a rock to my world.......nothing will be the same.................................................oompa.

  This is a sad day, Oompa. I am getting ready to celebrate 18 yrs married. We have had our down days, down weeks, and even down months. It is hard to deal with life. Not knowing the details it is hard to say that I would hope you could stay or should go. What I will say then is that I hope it works out for you to the very best. Either way, I hope you can find peace and happiness, Buddy.

  have been involved with the watchtower since 1968, hence my moniker....tired of the hypocrisy.. i am hear to listen, learn, share and help others.

  i have not done much of anything in about 15 yrs.

  maybe since my wife's folks are still active in it and i would not want them to get on her about it.

  a jw mother recently received a background check phone call concerning her son's interest in pursuing a career in law enforcement in another state.

  she says nice enough things about her (ex-jw) son, but states that she doesn't talk to him much because he left the family religion, and then has the nerts to say that while she supports him to an extent, she disapproves of his career choice because, "as duhhhhoho's witlesses, we don't believe in law enforcement.

  " what a shame to admit this.. i say, don't call 9-1-1 you stupid piece o' hell.

  Tired of the Hypocrisy

  This is a matter that has irked me for quite some time.Most Witnesses actually do believe in Law Enforcement protection ,and to some extent, personal "self defense" as long as it doesn't involve a weapon or martial arts training.

  I have never had any problem with defending myself or a loved one. Hell, I have even defended strangers when I have seen the need. For me it makes no sendse to just be a victim. So if I kicked in some jerk's ass or if I have to shoot someone, I am just going to do it. I am not bloodthirsty at all, but I find that living with not doing something is worse than having bloodguilt!
